Arriving passengers shall declare to Customs via the Red (Goods to Declare/Customs Service) Channel if carrying:

 

- Dutiable goods exceeding their duty-free exemption ;
- Prohibited Items & Money Laundering Controlled Items ;
- Items Subject to Other Regulations ; or
- Any other goods needed to be declared.

If in doubts regarding customs clearance on arrival, please proceed to the Red Channel for consultation.

A passenger who has nothing to declare may pass through the Green (Nothing to Declare) Channel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Duty Free Exemptions
 

The duty free exemption is the total value of goods arriving passengers may bring into Taiwan without having to pay duty.

Arriving passengers may bring more goods than their exemptions (referring to limits), but they have to declare and pay duty on it. Failure to declare or false declaration may lead to penalties.

Please be reminded that goods in carry-on baggage and in unaccompanied baggage are totaled together, including those bought from duty-free shops, on flight, and those carried from Taiwan to other countries and brought back.

 

Types of Duty Free Exemptions

 

A. Used Personal Articles

Goods are in reasonable quantities.

The value of the good is ≤ NTD10,000 per set/piece.

The exemption is not applicable to: control goods, tobacco products and alcohols.

 

B. Goods for Personal and Household Use

The total value of the goods is ≤ NTD 20,000.

The exemption is not applicable to:

- goods apparently for business or commerical use;

- goods carried by a passenger having violated customs laws or rules before and frequently traveling in and out of the country;

- control goods, tobacco products and alcohols.

 

C. Tobacco Products and Alcohols

As from January 1, 2023, a passenger aged 18 or over is allowed to bring 1 liter of alcohol , a passenger aged 20 or over is allowed to bring 200 cigarettes or 25 cigars or 1lb smoking tobacco.

Medicines

Western Medicine	Non-Prescription Medicine		Up to 12 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks) per type, and up to a maximum of 36 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks).	Permit issued by the TFDA is required for the customs clearance.
	Prescription Medicine	Controlled Drugs	With prescription (or supporting document): Up to a 6 months' supply.	A statement certified by TFDA is required for the customs clearance.
		Others	Without prescription (or supporting document): Up to a 2 months' supply. With prescription (or supporting document): Up to a 6 months' supply. For carrying injectables, the prescription is required.	Permit issued by the TFDA is required for the customs clearance.
	Notice: The dosage shall not exceed what is stated in the prescription (or supporting document).			-
Chinese Medicine	Ingredients		Up to 1 kg of each type of ingredient, and up to a maximum of 12 types of ingredients.	Permit issued by the Department of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy(+886-2-8590-7261) is required for customs clearance.
	Preparations		Up to 12 bottles (boxes) of each type, and up to a maximum of 36 bottles (boxes).
	For situations exceeding the said limits, please present medical documents to Customs where you could carry up to a 3 months' supply.
Food preparations, in capsule or tablet form.			Up to 12 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks) per type, and up to a maximum of 36 bottles (boxes, cans, bars, sticks).	Permit issued by the TFDA is required for the customs clearance.
Contact lenses			Up to 60 pieces contact lenses with the same diopters. Up to 2 diopters of one brand is allowed.
