Taipei, June 14 (CNA) A variety of specially cultivated produce was showcased at
the annual Taipei International Food Show Wednesday, including softball-sized
personal watermelons.
The "Miniball," a red-fleshed watermelon, weighs around 600 grams and can be held in one hand, according to its grower, Known-You Seed Co.
The round watermelon has thin skin and a limited number of seeds, which makes it highly edible, the Kaohsiung-based company said.
With a 9-11 degrees Brix, which measures the dissolved sugar content of an aqueous solution, the fruit can be kept for three weeks in the refrigerator, according to the company.
Also demonstrated in the show were fresh sprouts and sheep's milk, which adopt smart agricultural technology to make them either quicker to harvest or easier to ship.

Some 1,500 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions are taking part in the June
14-17 Taipei food show, which is being held across 4,100 booths at the Taipei
Nangang Exhibition Center, according to the event's organizer, Taiwan External
Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
There has been a surge in both the number of exhibitors and booths, which marked a growth rate of some 30 percent from the event last year, thanks to a relaxation of Taiwan's border control as the COVID-19 subsides, TAITRA said.
The fair is also expected to create an output value that is 30-50 percent higher from 2022, according to the council.
