EVA Air ranked world's 9th best airline in 2023 by Skytrax

Taipei, June 21 (CNA) Taiwan-based EVA Air moved up nine places to rank ninth in a list of the world's best airlines in 2023 released Tuesday by Skytrax, a U.K.-based aviation research agency.

The carrier ranked first in several subcategories, including the World's Best Premium Economy Class Airlines, the World's Best Premium Economy Class Airline Catering, and the Best Premium Economy Class Airlines in Asia.

As passenger demand climbs back toward pre-pandemic levels, the airline is in the process of upgrading new services, including a wider selection of inflight meal choices, said EVA President Clay Sun (孫嘉明).

"We expect to reveal these changes during the second half of this year and look forward to giving travelers new and even better experiences," Sun said as he received the awards at the Paris Air Show.

Singapore Airlines was named Airline of the Year for 2023, with Qatar Airways ranked second and ANA All Nippon Airways in third place, out of some 330 airlines included in the survey results, Skytrax said.

Emirates claimed fourth place, while Japan Airlines ranked No. 5, according to Skytrax.

Rounding out the top 10 world's best airlines for 2023 were, in descending order, Turkish Airlines, Air France, Cathay Pacific Airways, EVA Air and Korean Air.

The rankings are based on 2022-2023 customer surveys conducted online by Skytrax, with over 13 million passengers from 100 countries participating, according to EVA Air.

Taiwan's Starlux Airlines and China Airlines ranked 39th and 41st in the list, respectively, up from 103rd and 42nd in 2022.
